Why you should unplug from social media at a wedding

Isn't it funny that these days the term "unplug" refers to turning off our wireLESS devices?  By definition, to unplug means to disconnect.  What is trending for weddings and events now is unplugging in order to CONNECT.

According to Mobilestatistics.com, the average person spends 23 days a year staring at their phone screen.  The better part of a month...lost looking down at a screen.

More and more we are seeing the trend that couples don't want their guests sharing their day on social media....tweeting, instagramming and checking in at every moment possible.  From photos of the first dance to what entree is on your plate, society today doesn't want to miss a moment.

Wedding photographs weren't even an option really, until after World War II when cameras and film became portable according to wedpix.com.  So now we fast forward not even 100 years to the 21st century where we all walk around with a camera phone attached to our hand.  Is this an improvement?

We snap a photo at every opportunity and document every moment.  Are we living those moments or just documenting them to share with a society that we only interact with on a screen?

I think this unplugged wedding trend is spot-on.  There will be no lack of images to document the blessed union, and with guests' heads up instead of on their palm-sized screens, the memories will be truly enjoyed.

And with less focus on their screens, they can enjoy the food even more. Here's what you can expect!
