Welcome to New England! With some of the most unpredictable weather in the country, it can be hard to plan an event. Spring time? It might snow...April 1st blizzard? absolutely. Summer? There could be a hurricane! Fall...that must be safe...all that beautiful foliage and crisp Fall air! You could have a heat wave in October. And Winter...well, for sure you have heard about our New England Winters. In 2014, we received over 108 inches of snow in one season!
Parasols and Finger Sandwiches: How showers have changed
The origin of the Bridal Shower comes from the Victorian Era when gifts were placed in a parasol to "shower" the bride-to-be with small items for her home. Baby showers, however, are a newer tradition to help an expectant couple prepare for their new arrival. Cultures around the world have countles variations on how to host a shower be it baby or bridal...but today I feel a bit nostalgic. Here at PCC, I see showers almost every single weekend. The elaborate themes, decorations, games and gifts make me yearn for a simpler day.
Selecting the right setting to say "I Do" can be confusing. It seems nowadays that everywhere is a wedding venue! Old barns, artist lofts, museums, libraries and even empty warehouses now boast that they are wedding venues. Can these unusual spots host a weddding? Technically, yes. Are there logistics beyond imagination to account for? Um...yes.
